So sorry this will be short. But my goal for this week is to send more letters...
It was a good week, really good.
This morning we went on a hike! Like, the Elders in my zone decided to not be lame and they organized a hike! Oh man, I love hiking so much. Logan is beautiful. It's starting to get hotter here, but the reverse to that is it is actually sunny! It's been raining for like 3 weeks straight. And I love the sunshine! We got to the wind caves and we took pictures and hung out for a little bit and then most of the elders were like, "LETS RUN DOWN THE MOUNTAIN" and i'm like, have fun with that. And so us and the more sane Elders started down and...we got lost. The path basically turned into a bunch of loose rocks going more or less straight down. "Sharp rocks at the bottom, most likely. Bring it on. BOOYAHHH" So yeah instead of that, we turned around and went another way that was just as steep but there were a bunch of trees that we more or less swung from branch to branch down the mountain. All the disney came out and i was singing and quoting. Also one of our Zone Leaders is from New Zealand and I asked him what life was like in Narnia and without batting an eye he told me. coolest place ever.
Pictures to come :)
So Wednesday we went on exchanges and we walked and walked and walked and walked. It was so nice! We found some cool people, one 12 year old boy who told us after we watched the Because of Him video that he just felt indescribably happy. He said that!!!! Ah. He's so awesome. We asked him if he would want to listen to our message. And first he said that he would if his grandparents did. And then he stopped and thought and was like, "you know what, no, I want to know! I like this already and I want to know for myself!" I was blown away.
That same day Everyone was home for lessons! But downside, these people who we had lessons with all dropped us. Hard core. I was more or less on my own because my companion was letting me "take the lead and stretch" and I didn't really know what to do. But I really do love these people and so does the Lord so He gave me the words I needed to drop them in such a way that someday when they are ready to listen and change they will call the missionaries. A few weeks ago this would have been devastating, to have three of our strongest investigators drop us in the single day that I was in charge of things. But the whole day I just had a great feeling of peace, and FAITH, to keep on going and trust that Heavenly Father has a perfect plan.
Angel and Sara and the twins came to church this week! And it was the most precious experience to sit next to them during Sacrament and hear them sing the hymns with us. They are so happy to have found the church, and we are sooooo grateful for the trust Heavenly Father has given us to teach this family.
So something real quick I learned this morning in my study,
The natural man is heavy. Sins are heavy. Weaknesses are heavy. Just the stuff that happens in this world and our inability to do it perfectly, heavy. Sometimes we don't notice it, but I think our souls yearn for relief.
27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.
The Bible Dictionary definition of Christ says that Christ also means "The anointed". Christ lived a perfect life, His life was free from sin and weakness, so His burden was really light. He destroyed death and sin and then offers us His burden, while He takes ours.
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
The way we can take the yoke of Christ upon is is by LEARNING OF HIM, from the scriptures (especially the Book of Mormon), from the general authorities, from our parents, from the missionaries (cough :D). Anyways I love this. I love my Savior, and I'm so grateful. One of my friends emailed me and said that life is like a game of Quidich, the team plays as hard as they can, but the way the game is won is when the seeker catches the snitch. Christ has caught the snitch for each of us as we accept Him onto our personal team by making covenants with God. All the work we do is SO IMPORTANT, but it is imperfect. But its a fo sho thing that He will catch the snitch.
I love you all!!
