Hello everyone :)
This week has been wonderful! New area new apartment, same ward. It's
the dream! Sister Orchard is my beautiful companion and she's from
Illinois (Eejinoys if you espeak espanglish). She's got such a
wonderful testimony of the gospel and is a powerful teacher. I'm ready
to learn so much from her this transfer. I feel like lately God has
been kindly and gently pointing out my weaknesses to me, and it's been
miraculous to find that in all the things I've decided to work on are
skills and talents that Sister Orchard has and she is so patient and
good to help me out. Yesterday she had a meeting in Logan and was gone
for a couple of hours and when she got back we got in the car and just
talked about so many things and laughed and laughed because we had
missed a few hours of talking we had to make it up hahaha.
I began to study the New Testament again and have had some really good
experiences with that. I read the story of when Jesus raised Lazarus
from the dead and was struck with the closeness Martha and Mary had
with the Savior. I learned that those who truly believe in and follow
the Savior are close with Him. The creator of the world, the Perfect
Son of God wept with one woman for the death of her brother because
she allowed Him by her faith to be her friend and support. It has been
an incredible year. I've recognized character flaws and weaknesses of
faith in myself- but I have also found a testimony that will not be
shaken that Jesus is the Christ, the Light of the World and Son of the
Living God.
A few miracles.
I know I have been sent to this area by the hand of God.
Flashback a few months ago, Sister Anderson and I were in the
Instacare to take care of something for Sister Anderson and I felt
prompted to talk with the secretary. Her name was Rosa Gonzales and
she was so nice! Flash forward to the first day I was here, we were
knocking doors and this lady opens and says "Sister! You found me!"
And it was Rosa Gonzales.
We got a call the next day from some missionaries in Farr West. We
went to visit Ramon Mendoza a less active member who wanted to know
the address for the church. We took a Book of Mormon in Spanish and he
is all ready to come back to church. His mother Isabel sat with us in
the lesson and at the end she asked us how many times she will have to
meet with us so she can get baptized. We testified of the Savoir and
the sacred covenant of baptism and I was filled with so much love for
this cute family. We will be meeting with them a few times this week.
We found another family- the Saucedo family, and they are all set to
be baptized as well! They don't know it as well yet but will receive
that answer from God soon. That lesson was so powerful to me, I just
remembered sharing my testimony of Jesus Christ and being filled with
love and testimony of my Savior. It brought a lot of meaning to the
scripture in Moroni 7:44.
If a man be meek and lowly in heart, and confesses by the power of the
Holy Ghost that Jesus is the Christ, he must needs have charity
This Sunday in gospel principles, Luis bore his testimony to the class
of the truthfulness of the gospel, and expressed his gratitude to God
for sending me to his home. It was the sweetest moment and I won't
soon forget it :)
I sat between two incredible women on Sunday in relief society. Bricia
Mercado and Sofia Jimenez, two ladies I've had the incredible
opportunity to teach and who will be getting baptized very soon.
God is so good.
I love you all!
Sister Ogden
