Sorry for last week! It was a crazy day. I am now serving in Smithfield (read: Smithfilled) Utah, English, walking, and training. And I'm proud to say I've got a nice watch tan.
This week has been one of the best weeks on my mission. I've really been able to rededicate myself to working with Jesus Christ to serve Gods children as one of His missionaries. We've seen some amazing miracles this week. We are still trying to figure out the most effective way to work in the stake but we've been working as hard as we know how and God has blessed us so much. I have felt His loving hand guiding and directing us and the grace of Christ making us instruments in His hands.
Sister Paschal is my new companion!! We get along so well and are very similar in many ways. She is teaching me so much. Especially about listening and following the spirit. She is from Woodscross Utah loves astronomy, the movie Interstellar, water color painting, ice cream, and cats. We are basically the same person. Shout out to Sister Brown and Sister Thiriot. She is actually you two mixed into the same person. =awesome.
It was last Wednesday and we had a crazy afternoon and finally were out to work. We met up with a less active family the elders were teaching before they left. We went in and I was really quite aware that that might have been Sister Paschals first teaching experience and so I was extra super aware of the 8 fundamentals, trying my hardest to give her a good example to start out with. It was a really good lesson, not because of the things we taught, but because of the spirit that was there in the room. The couple learned by the spirit what God wanted them to change in their lives to come closer to Christ and readily accepted the invitation to read from the Book of Mormon daily. As we left Sister Paschal said that she couldn't believe it was just her second day on the mission and she was already having experiences like that. She also commented on how much she loved this family after spending just thirty minutes with them. We've talked about that a lot this week, almost every time we meet someone new we find that God has blessed us with so much love for them. I've been so grateful for the spirit being with us this week.
We were walking to a different part of our area when we felt like we should try one more house before we left. We walked up to it and nobody answered the door. Again, nobody answered the door. Right as we were about to leave a kid named Chris answered the door. He expressed to us frustration at the confusion he felt at what path he should take to come closer to Christ. He said he had been taught by missionaries about a year ago and has kept praying and going to church and has felt Gods love and presence in his life. we told him it wasn't a coincidence that we knocked on his door, that this was another answer to his prayers. He said he believed that. We have a lesson scheduled for tomorrow and we hope to teach the restoration and invite him to be baptized at the end of the month.
Conference was amazing. I was struck by the repeated reminders of Gods love for us as His children. So many of the speakers pleaded with us to remember our identity as children of the Most High God. This morning in the temple I felt that love again. It is my hope and goal to remember His love and to love Him with everything I have. I am filled with gratitude to my Heavenly Father.
LOVE YALL.
