Crazy experience of the week! It was about 7:30 and dark. We parked the car and were about to get out and go into a lesson when we noticed there were several police officers walking around the house next to us pacing and waving flashlights everywhere. We weren't sure what was going on so we stayed in the car and tried to be invisible. All of a sudden a fire truck shows up and a guy gets out carrying some kind of tool on his shoulder. He walks up to the door and breaks it down!!!! They all shuffled in. We were in suspense waiting to see what would happen....and then! Someone came out of the house on a stretcher. We hope the person is okay, and we were glad the police came to help. It was just a little anti-climactic.
We had a lesson with Lali Espinoza and her three boys a few times this week. Lali had a large concern with prayer. She wants to know if this is really Christ's church and wants the blessings of baptism and temple covenants, but was afraid to pray. She expressed how she knows God is so great and so good and so powerful, that He has so many children-- how would He be able to listen to her prayer and then answer it. It was amazing the spirit was there as we testified of our Father's love for her. I know God loves His children. She is progressing very well, and her three kids are receptive to the spirit as well and loved learning about the Book of Mormon this week. They are adorable! They only speak Spanish and they just adore their mom.
While planning Sister Orchard was prompted to tract a certain area. So we went and within 30 minutes we found two new investigator families. Andres is the head of one of them. He says he has been looking for something in his life for his family. He is pretty sick (we don't know with what) but wants to come closer to his Savior with his wife and two kids. We testified of the power of Jesus Christ to heal us and bless our families. We already have so much love for this family. It's a miracle :)
I love this ward and I love this area. It is definitely harder than other areas I've had, but I know I'm here by Gods direction and that Jesus Christ is here with us in this work.
22 For behold, this is my church; whosoever is baptized shall be baptized unto repentance. And whomsoever ye receive shall believe in my name; and him will I freely forgive.
23 For it is I that taketh upon me the sins of the world; for it is I that hath created them; and it is I that granteth unto him that believeth unto the end a place at my right hand.
God is so good.
Love you!!!!
