I am so incredibly grateful for this past transfer! It has been such an amazing moment in my mission. I've loved it and am sad that it's over already. I'll be staying in the same area but covering it in Spanish! It's the best thing that could have happened and I'm thrilled to be with Sister Anderson again. God is too good to me sometimes.
This quote really jumped out to me this morning:
"The Holy Ghost impresses upon the soul the reality of God the Father and the Son Jesus Christ so deeply that no earthly power or authority can separate him from that knowledge."
I feel like I have come to know the truthfulness of this gospel more than I have before as I have been here in Smithfield.
This week was a little harder, but God knows what He is doing, and He is a master teacher. One day in particular was kind of long and lots of lessons had fallen through and people weren't that thrilled to talk to us. We got a text from Jason Booth (investigator who's son decided to be baptized!) saying that they weren't going to be able to go to church. After a long day that was really hard to hear because that meant he would have to push back his baptism date. I was really bummed. and then sister paschal said, "let's go visit Shailee!" And the spirit was there- we had to go and visit Shailee right then!! She lived pretty far from where we were and it was already the end of the night. As we are walking/running/formal speed walking we ran into Sister Roe, who we love and she offered to drive us back home at the end of the night. Everything was falling into place and we just knew Shailee was going to be to home and we were going to be able to teach her and she was going to accept the message we have. We finally got here and there's all this hope built up inside me and we knocked on her door-- and nothing. We prayed and knocked and prayed some more. No one. We sadly started to turn back to our apartment. We looked back and we saw Shailee and her husband walking around their house. We were so sad that they had chosen not to open the door. We got back to our apartment and I just was so sad.
You can speak a gentle word
To the heart with anger stirred,
If there’s sunshine in your heart;
Tho it seems a little thing,
It will heaven’s blessings bring,
If there’s sunshine in your heart today.
In that moment I felt like I could have stayed really sad and upset, but I felt the spirit strongly as I listened to this song. I cannot deny that God loves His children, that I love Him with everything I have. Agency is such a precious gift from Heavenly Father. I want to use my agency to serve Him forever, no matter what the end result is. We can choose to rejoice.
I am so grateful for my mom! And that I could talk to you guys yesterday. It was good to talk to you. I'm thankful for you and pray for you always!!
The next couple days are going to be tricky as far as housing goes. Send stuff to 179e 800n Logan Utah 84321 for now.
Love you!!
