It has been a good week! I was so happy to see Kayden Booth get
baptized. Sister Paschal and I started teaching him in April and I was
so happy to see the change the gospel has made in his life. He just
seems so much happier than he before. I am so grateful for that ward-
that they reached out to him and helped him find friends and support.
He just has so much more light around him now.
I got to go on exchanges to Montevista with Sister Bettey and Sister
Daughtry. They are incredible missionaries and I felt so blessed to be
able to work with them. I started my mission in Montevista and forgot
how much I love that place. The sisters had put in their plans to
visit a former investigator- Angel Chavez!!!! I taught him and his
family about a year ago and it was one of the best experiences I have
had on my mission. I was able to remind Angel of the times he felt the
spirit and that he knows this church is true. I love that family a lot
and have continued to pray for them throughout my mission. I hope with
my whole heart that they accept the gospel soon!
Moroni 7:33 And Christ hath said: If ye will have faith in me ye shall
have power to do whatsoever thing is expedient in me.
We have been working with a beautiful sister named Julia. She had been
praying and praying to know which church to join- and then we knocked
on her door! She has been praying and reading the Book of Mormon. She
wasn't going to be able to go to church because she had to work but we
told her that God would work a miracle so that she could go. We prayed
and fasted and then we went over and found out that her work had been
canceled! And then something happened and she had to work again. We
prayed so much for that miracle to happen. We knocked on her door
Sunday morning and she answered the door and said a miracle had
happened and she would be going! About ten minutes before the meeting
began we got a phone call from her saying she had decided not to go. I
know God prepared a way for her to go to church and it makes me so sad
that she chose not to go. I'm not sure what we can do for her but I
know God loves her so much and will give her another opportunity and
will help her make the right decision as she acts with faith. I have
learned though that God is so willing to do miracles for us despite
our weaknesses if we will but choose to have faith in His Son Jesus
Christ.
1 Nephi 7:12Yea, how is it that ye have forgotten that the Lord is
able to do all things according to His will for the children of men if
it so be that they exercise faith in Him. Wherefore, let us be
faithful to Him.
I know Christ lives and I am so grateful for His strength and His
power. I've thought about why I'm on a mission a lot lately. I'm not
here for myself, and I don't really feel like I am here to serve other
people. I am here to serve God. By serving Him, though, I serve His
children and I am so grateful for every day I have to do that.
Moroni 10: 7 And ye may know that he is, by the power of the Holy
Ghost; wherefore I would exhort you that ye deny not the power of God;
for he worketh by power, according to the faith of the children of
men, the same today and tomorrow, and forever.
